Pace High Percussion
The award winning Pace High School Percussion is under the direction of Garrett Lambert, with assistance from Josh Rodriguez, Zack Blessing & Jacob Sallee. In their respective band class, students are expected to build an understanding of basic to advanced concepts and techniques relating to both concert and marching percussion.
Throughout the course of the school year, students are expected to practice and pass off individual rudiments, scales, and etude assignments, on a variety of concert percussion instruments. Every percussion student is expected to become proficient on all percussion instruments, regardless of what instrument they play in marching band. This allows the student to develop necessary skills that will enable them to improve as a performer in any of our musical ensembles at Pace High School. Students are encouraged to own their own percussion practice pad, to allow them to practice these skills at home.
Each summer and fall, all percussion students perform with the "Pride of the Red, White, and Blue" either as a member of the battery percussion or front ensemble. At the conclusion of the marching season, students have the option of participating in the Indoor Percussion ensemble each Winter and Spring. This ensemble competes locally within the Gulfcoast Color Guard and Percussion Circuit from January to April. At the conclusion of the circuit competition season, the Indoor Percussion ensemble travels to Dayton, OH to compete in the Winter Guard International World Percussion Championships. Additional trips and competitions vary from year to year.
All percussionists are expected to participate in the Santa Rosa All-County Band auditions each Fall, and participate in the Florida District 1 Solo and Ensemble Contest each February. Additional opportunities for performance vary from year to year. Typically, at the conclusion of each school year, all percussionists will present a recital of soloists and mixed percussion ensembles.
